You first may ask, why such a high price tag? Certainly the value of the game itself has dropped over time, like most of the NEO•GEO MVS titles out there, however, to acquire this it had to be purchased at the very beginning of it's release.
As many NEO•GEO MVS veterans will know, the prices of a newly released MVS game, especially anything that is related to the King of Fighter's series, prices start off at around $1700-1800.00. We paid slightly less than the current selling price for this title, as we received the discounted distributor price at it's initial release.

Only 1 of 48 KOF 2002 Kits with unique serial number labeling system.

Serial numbers 1 thru 48 used EEPROM chips exclusively, while the rest of the production used MASK Roms.

Introduced at the Special KOF Show in Mexico in 2002.
To get this kit, we got lucky, as the first 48 kits (serial numbers 1-48) of KOF 2002 were pre-sold to a Mexican distributor, but we asked SNK NEOGEO USA Corp. to do us a huge fan favor and sell it to us and because they realized arcade distributors see no value in serial numbers, they sent them random serial numbered kits . We eventually bought the first 6 serial numbers and over time, sold serial numbers 000002 thru 000006 and kept serial no. 1 for ourselves.
So there you have it. A piece of SNK History and a chance for you to own it.
